Khaled Sanad took over as men's varsity rowing coach at Colgate in September 2000 and is the coach Colgate needs to take the Raiders to the upper echelon of college rowing. In his brief two year tenure at Colgate he has brought the men's varsity squad from mediocrity in New York State to a contender on the national scale.  Among his accomplishments are 4 Patriot League Gold medals, 2nd place at the San Diego Crew Classic in 2002, and a 3rd place finish at the Avaya Communications Championship Regatta in 2002.  Colgate received its first ever national ranking (23rd) under his leadership.

Before Colgate, Sanad served as coach of the elite athletes at the Penn Athletic Club in Philadelphia. His crew placed second in the 2000 Olympic trials for the men's pair and also second at the World Championship trails for the coxed pair. Prior to coming to the United States, Sanad coached the national team and the Under 23 national team of his home country, Egypt. His most notable success came with the Egyptian sculler Aly Ibrahim Aly who won several world cup races and made the final at the 1997 and 1998 World Championships. At the 1998 Under 23 European Championships his athletes won gold in the men's single, gold in the straight four and finished fourth in the men's pair.

Sanad began his rowing and coaching career with the Cairo Police Rowing Club.  As a rower he was the Egyptian national champion from 1988-1995.  In that time span he also won the gold medal in both the African Rowing Championships and the Arab Rowing Championships.  Khaled graduated from the American University in Cairo, Egypt in 1996 and the Physical Education College, Cairo University in 1993.
